Tips for Avoiding Getting Scammed on eBay
If you are searching to buy an item, review the feedback of the seller carefully. Some sellers on eBay are deadbeats and it is not hard to tell which ones. If a seller has 1 or 2 negatives, look to see if they are retaliatory negatives from some other buyer or seller who was really the bargaining party who was at fault. Also, if the seller has only a few feedbacks, think carefully if you want to send them money. For expensive items, even above $20-25, it is best to deal with sellers who have at least 10-20 feedbacks.
When paying for items, always use a credit card, even if you use PayPal. This can save you much time and grief if you ever end up with an item that was damaged or not as described by the seller. It is easy to reverse a charge on your credit card by calling your credit card and explaining what happened. They will reverse the charge immediately and require that you fill out a form that they usually send to you in the mail. The procedure at eBay and at Paypal is time consuming and tedious. It also does not result in a full refund through eBay, only 75%. It can take a full year and lots of time and form filling to get $75 back from a $100 bad deal.
